Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) partners at the Innovative Vector Control Consortium (IVCC), Jed Stone and Christopher Larkin, recently distributed 300 conference bags made of cotton from the Ifakara Women’s Weavers Association (IWWA).

IHI is one of many institutions that IVCC works with in Africa, testing new vector control products. Inside the distributed bags, there was an insert that among other things gave an overview of what IHI does to advance health research and services in Africa.

IWWA was started in 1983, by a Danish NGO, to help poor female school leavers from the Kilombero and Ulanga districts of southern Tanzania to establish sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families. Ten years down the road, the project became a workers’ cooperative.
