Randomized Controlled Trial to Evaluate the Safety, Immunogenicity and Efficacy of Intravenously Administered Attenuated Plasmodium Falciparum Sporozoite Vaccine (PfSPZ Vaccine) in Tanzanian Adults

A single center, double blind, randomized, normal saline placebo-controlled trial of PfSPZ vaccine OR PfSPZ challenge, administered by Direct Venous Inoculation (DVI). The trial is aimed at evaluating safety, tolerability and vaccine-induced humoral and cellular immune responses of PfSPZ Vaccine in healthy male Tanzanian adults, received doses of 2.7×10⁵ OR 1.35×10⁵ PfSPZ of PfSPZ Vaccine as well as efficacy three weeks and twenty four weeks following 5 immunizations using Controlled Human Malaria Infection (CHMI).–
