Government leaders visiting the Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) booth at the 2026 National Farmers' Show (Nane Nane) Exhibition in Morogoro have praised the Institute's research and innovations, encouraging greater use of technology to transform Tanzania's agriculture and livestock sectors.

Among the leaders who toured the IHI booth at the Ifakara Town Council pavilion were Pilly Kitwana, Director of the Ifakara Town Council, on 3 August, Morogoro Regional Commissioner Adam Kigoma Malima on 4 August, and the Kilombero District Commissioner Dunstan Kyobya.

During their visits, the leaders explored a range of IHI research innovations and technologies designed to improve public health and support sustainable development. They emphasized that science, research and technology are essential for driving productivity, improving livelihoods and accelerating national development, particularly in agriculture and livestock.

The delegation was guided through the exhibition by the IHI team, who showcased innovations including the Double Net Mini Trap (DN-Mini Trap) for safer malaria mosquito surveillance, laboratory technologies, digital health solutions and community health interventions. 

The visits provided an opportunity for the leaders to engage with researchers, learn how IHI's work addresses national challenges, and reaffirm the importance of strengthening partnerships between research institutions and government to ensure scientific innovations benefit communities across Tanzania.
