Ifakara Health Institute is participating in the Dar Night Run 2026 on Saturday, 29 August 2026, bringing its 70 years of scientific innovation and public health impact to the streets of Dar es Salaam.

Held in commemoration of World Mosquito Day (25 Aug 2026) and as part of Ifakara ’s 70th anniversary celebrations, Ifakara’s participation is guided by the theme #OutrunTheBite: 70 Years of Science Against Tanzania’s Deadliest Creature. The campaign highlights Ifakara ’s long-standing commitment to malaria research, mosquito control, and advancing solutions that protect communities from mosquito-borne diseases.

Through its participation, Ifakara is engaging with runners, families, and the wider community through the Dar Night Run marketplace and race activities. Visitors have had the opportunity to learn more about Ifakara ’s research, explore ongoing projects, and discover how science is helping to address health challenges in Tanzania.

The event features a marketplace, interactive activities, a pre-run celebration, the main race, and an after-run experience, bringing together communities, health advocates, and running enthusiasts for an evening of awareness, connection, and action.

As Ifakara celebrates 70 years of advancing health research, the Dar Night Run provides an opportunity to reflect on the journey so far while inspiring continued collective action against malaria and other public health challenges.
