It's Independence Day. Every 9^th of December, Tanzanians celebrate the remarkable journey that led to the nation's freedom, reflecting on the struggles and sacrifices of those who paved the way for our sovereignty. 

In 1961, Tanzania emerged as an independent nation, breaking free from colonial rule. At the forefront of this historic movement was Julius Nyerere, the first President, whose leadership played a crucial role in shaping the destiny of our nation.  

Ifakara Health Institute wishes all Tanzanians, both near and far, a happy Independence Day. As we join hands in celebration, let us continue to build a healthy nation that embraces growth, inclusivity, and prosperity.
