@70ENGAGEMENT: Ifakara joins national efforts to combat child malnutrition through breastfeeding
On July 30, 2025, the Ifakara Health Institute participated in the inauguration of the 2025 World Breastfeeding Week and the official launch of the National Guideline for the Prevention and Management of Wasting and Nutritional Oedema in Children.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Health, brought together key stakeholders in child health and nutrition to spotlight renewed national efforts in improving child survival and development.
Representing the National Technical Advisory Committee, Dr. Getrud Mollel – Pediatrician and Research Scientist at Ifakara – presented key updates and a summary of the newly launched guideline, highlighting evidence-based approaches for early identification, prevention, and treatment of wasting and nutritional oedema among children in Tanzania.
