On 9th December, Tanzania celebrates its journey to freedom, honoring the struggles, sacrifices, and visionaries who paved the way for our nation’s sovereignty. In 1961, under the leadership of Julius Nyerere, Tanganyika gained independence, opening a new chapter of hope and self-determination.

On this special day, Ifakara Health Institute extends warm wishes to all Tanzanians at home and abroad. Our offices will remain closed in observance of the holiday.
