On December 8th, 2023, the Ifakara Health Institute hosted a high-powered delegation from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) headquarters to its Bagamoyo offices and research sites situated at Kingani area. 

The delegation visited the newly built Administration Block and state-of-the-art laboratories and also discussed what the progress has been and what the future holds for the collaboration between Ifakara and the SDC. 

Ifakara, led by its Director, Dr. Honorati Masanja, hosted the delegation, which included Ambassador Nicolas Randin, Head of the Sub-Saharan Africa Division at SDC HQ, Mrs. Katharina Stocker, Head of the East and Southern Africa Section at SDC HQ, Mrs. Christine Schneeberger, Head of the Thematic Section for Peace Governance and Equality at SDC HQ, and Viviane Hasselmann, Head of Health Domain at the Embassy of Switzerland in Tanzania.

During the visit, the group delved into conversations about Ifakara’s impressive institutional development over the past decade. They discussed its growing influence and role in shaping national health policies. They also explored avenues to enhance the strategic, adaptive, and impactful nature of the partnership between Ifakara and the SDC.
