Three senior Ifakara Health Institute staff with the human resources and administration background participated in this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Tanzania Human Resource and Administration Professionals Association (THRAPA).

The meeting was designed to enhance professional growth and provide valuable insights and knowledge to the THRAPA members.

The Ifakara team is led by Rahiya Shariff, the Human Resources Manager, accompanied by two senior project administrators, Adeline Herman and Priscilla Mlay. Both administrators have successfully coordinated numerous projects for the Institute over the years.

“As active staff members of our Institute and committed professionals in Human Resources and Administration, participating in this AGM presents an invaluable opportunity to network with peers, stay abreast of industry developments, and contribute to the advancement of our profession,” said Adeline Herman.

“Furthermore, our attendance aligns with our organization’s commitment to continuous professional development and staying connected with industry best practices,” she added.

The meeting, which coincides with International Human Resources Day, is themed "The Valuable Role of HR in Building a Sustainable Workforce." It takes place in Morogoro from May 20-22, 2024, with the Secretary General of CCM Dr. Emanuel Nchimbi gracing the event as the guest of honor.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Nchimbi urged human resources officers and administrators in the workforce to respect workers' rights and uphold laws and procedures. He also called on THRAPA members to see themselves as duty-bound to help workers obtain their rights and interests.

Key agenda items at the general meeting included discussions on the role of administrative and human resource officers in building a sustainable workforce, providing insights that can be directly applied in workplaces.

This year’s general meeting also featured the election of the Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, and members of the General Assembly according to the THRAPA Constitution. Human resource and administrative officers from both the government and the private sector in Tanzania, including representatives from Mzumbe University and Kairuki Hospital, were also present.
