Former Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Health, Dr. Faustine Ndugulile.

The Ifakara Health Institute is proud and happy to support the candidacy of the former Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Health, Dr. Faustine Ndugulile, for the position of Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Africa. 

Dr. Ndugulile, backed by his extensive academic background and rich professional experience, emerges as a promising candidate positioned to drive transformative change in healthcare delivery across the African continent.

About his background

His professional experience spans various pivotal roles, each contributing to his comprehensive understanding of healthcare systems and public health challenges. Notably, his tenure as Minister for Communication and Information Technology and Deputy Minister of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly, and Children underscores his multifaceted approach to addressing healthcare issues at both administrative and policy levels. 

Additionally, his parliamentary engagements, including vice-chairmanship of the Parliamentary Committee on Health and HIV/AIDS, reflect his advocacy for evidence-based healthcare policies and programs.

Country support

Dr. Ndugulile has received numerous endorsements from several government bodies, including the Ministry of Health of Tanzania and organizations within the country’s public health sector and beyond. He received the most honorable endorsement of all from the President of Tanzania, Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan. This was announced through her official social media and that of the statehouse on June 24, 2024.

Relationship with Ifakara

Dr. Ndugulile's association with the Ifakara further solidifies his commitment to addressing pressing health concerns, particularly in malaria research and advocacy. As a key supporter of Ifakara's initiatives, including the annual stakeholder gathering “Malaria Forum”, he has demonstrated a proactive stance towards combating endemic diseases and promoting healthcare innovation in the region.
