On August 29, 2024, a momentous milestone was achieved as students who attended the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) master’s program in Public Health Research were conferred with their degrees. The two-year program is run in collaboration with the Ifakara Health Institute.

The ceremony, held at the Tengeru Campus in Arusha, marked the 10th graduation event and was honored by the presence of the Chancellor of NM-AIST, Honorable Omari Issa, who conferred the degrees. This occasion was a testament to the graduates' dedication and perseverance, reflecting years of rigorous academic and practical engagement in the field of public health.

Fourteen students from this collaborative program were recognized for their achievements, having successfully navigated a challenging academic journey. The graduates are Aidi Lugenge, Anna Mamiro, Beatrice Francis, Budodi Walwa, Alan Mtenga, Faith Mosi, Felista Tarimo, Gadiel Marira, Hamisi Kunambi, Jane Machange, Jilly Mseti, Sabas Shange, Saitoti Timoth, and Shela Salum. These individuals have developed critical skills and expertise, equipping them to address complex health issues within their communities.

The partnership between NM-AIST and the Ifakara Health Institute has been integral to the success of these graduates. This collaboration provided students with access to cutting-edge research facilities, expert mentorship, and invaluable practical experience in public health. The synergy between these institutions not only enhanced the quality of education but also strengthened research capacity in Tanzania.
