Maulid, also referred to as Mawlūd or Mīlād, commemorates the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad – a significant figure in Islam. Traditionally observed on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal, it became a widespread celebration among Muslims starting in the 13th century.
