VISIT: Ifakara hosts Malaria No More, UK's Telegraph newspaper
From October 15 to 19, 2024, Ifakara Health Institute welcomed a team from Malaria No More UK and The Telegraph newspaper on a press trip to learn about the cutting-edge research taking place at the institute.
The team comprised Maeve Cullinan, Global Health Security Journalist at The Telegraph; Ashleigh Jordan and Hannah Huddart, Policy Officers at Malaria No More UK; Abigail Phillippa Trayler-Smith, Photographer; and Louie Joseph Freeman-Bassett, Press Lead for Malaria No More UK.
On Tuesday, October 15, participants traveled to Bagamoyo for a series of interviews and photography sessions focused on Transmission Zero, the Vector Control & Product Testing Unit, Clinical Trials Facility, and the research laboratories.
On Thursday, October 17, they continued their visit in Ifakara Town, Morogoro Region, where they conducted interviews at Ifakara's Mosquito City, followed by sessions at the VectorSphere and a community malaria screening activity in Kivukoni.
Ifakara is proud to have hosted this important visit, which emphasizes the significance of effective communication in global health. It also creates opportunities to strengthen partnerships essential for advancing research and implementation strategies.
