The Ifakara Health Institute, through its Transmission Zero project, convened a two-day meeting from January 21–22, 2025 in Ukerewe Island is located in the Ukerewe District of Mwanza Region, bringing together local government representatives and key stakeholders from across the district to discuss ongoing project activities in the region, with a strong emphasis on strategies to enhance community engagement.

The meeting served as a platform for collaboration among the District Malaria Focal Person, the District Vector Control Officer, Ward and Village Executive Officers, Village Chairpersons, and Community Mosquito Collectors involved in the project, ensuring that communities are well-equipped to contribute to malaria control initiatives.

A key aspect of the meeting was addressing the ethical considerations surrounding the project, including the importance of informed consent and culturally sensitive engagement throughout the research process.
