Ifakara Health Institute’s Vector Control Product Testing Unit (VCPTU) recently achieved the “Good Laboratory Practice” – a status achieved for a robust quality management system that ensures the validity, integrity and reliability of non-clinical safety data submitted for regulatory evaluation and approval.

The VCPTU hosted a half-day ceremony in Bagamoyo on July 16, 2021 during which it shared key highlights of the accreditation and explained to invited guests and stakeholders what it means to the Institute and the country. The accreditation has been granted for five years by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS), which serves the SADC member states.

The VCPTU is an internationally renowned site for high quality evaluations of new vector control products for the private industry, product development partnerships, and regulatory bodies including WHO Prequalification. #
