"MTAFITI" - the monthly news and events round-up of Ifakara Health Institute - September 2022 edition is already out. The main theme of the current edition is on the milestone in TB treatment.

>> Read it here: Mtafiti - Ifakara News & Events Round-Up September 2022 Edition.

The editor's choice top story reports on a game changer drug which can treat chronic TB for only 6 months! For the first time in recent medical development history, almost all patients with chronic TB, which is technically called DR-TB, can be treated for six months using oral drugs..

And on the readers' top story - a story that was most read in both the Ifakara website and social media platforms - researchers at Ifakara Health Institute are proposing a new approach for malaria vector control which targets the dominant mosquito species known to “carry more malaria.”

The round-up summarizes other reports, news, events, new projects and publications.

As usual, at the end, there is a nice video to watch on an interesting news coverage by the national broadcaster - TBC1. The news piece focuses on Ifakara Health Institute's efforts in the fight against TB and what the Institute does to ensure that the next TB drug is administered for the shortest time possible.
