"MTAFITI" - the monthly news and events round-up of Ifakara Health Institute - October 2022 edition is out. The main theme of the current edition is on studying the Coronavirus make-up.

The editor's choice top story reports on one of our contributions to a global call for more studies in Africa on the make-up of the Coronavirus in order to understand how it’s formed. Scientists believe that results from such studies can be useful to scientists developing diagnostic tools and treatment for COVID-19.

And on the readers' top story - this one was most read in both the Ifakara website and social media platforms - researchers have reported increasing healthcare challenges facing the refugee population in Tanzania.
The round-up summarizes other reports, news, events, new projects and publications.

As usual, at the end, there is a nice video to watch on a series of our MasterClasses. This month, Ifakara Director of Science, Dr Fredros Okumu, moderated a MasterClass in which Prof. Pierre Carnevale and Silvie Manguin discussed the evolution of mosquito nets used in protection against malaria.
