Registered health laboratory practitioner advancing public health

Josephine Mhina is a Research Officer at the Chronic Diseases Clinic of Ifakara (CDCI) within Ifakara Health Institute. She possesses extensive knowledge of clinical laboratory principles, including all phases of patient specimen analysis: pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical.

Josephine's work encompasses various areas, including HIV-related work, immunology, microbiology, hematology, MTB Xpert, and other laboratory and research activities aimed at generating new knowledge and informing public health policy to maximize community health benefits.

Josephine is a fully registered health laboratory practitioner with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) in Tanzania. In addition, Josephine has pursued training courses to enhance her skills, including Good Clinical Practice, Quality Management and Sample Management offered by The Global Health Network. She has also completed additional training in Cervical Cancer Screening and Colposcopy, diagnosing and managing bacterial infections in the context of antimicrobial resistance, and conducting clinical research in routine care settings.
