Rahiya M. Shariff serves as the Human Resources Manager at the Ifakara Health Institute. With seventeen years of dedicated experience in managing a diverse array of human resources functions within non-profit settings, Rahiya M. Shariff stands as a proficient and knowledgeable HR professional. Throughout her career, she has honed her skills in various areas including performance management, strategic HR planning, payroll management, and database administration.

Rahiya's expertise extends to the development of recruitment guidelines, policies, and procedures, as well as contract negotiations, administration, and professional development strategies. Her adeptness in team building, compensation, and motivation techniques has been instrumental in fostering a positive work environment.

Moreover, Rahiya is well-versed in labor laws governing various HR aspects such as staffing, deployments, occupational risk management, compensation, and benefits programs. Her proficiency in mediation, dispute resolution, and employee relations has contributed to maintaining harmonious workplace environments.

Rahiya holds a Master’s in Business Administration with a specialization in Corporate Management from Mzumbe University, Tanzania, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Dar es Salaam. Additionally, she has pursued numerous professional development opportunities both locally and internationally, earning certifications in areas such as talent management, succession planning, and quality management systems.

In her current role as the Human Resources Manager at the Ifakara Health Institute, Rahiya oversees a large workforce across multiple branches and study sites. Her responsibilities encompass various HR functions including performance management, medical insurance administration, recruitment, database management, and employee development.

Prior to her current position, Rahiya served as a Senior Human Resources Officer and Human Resources Officer at the Ifakara Health Institute, where she played integral roles in coordinating HR activities and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Her dedication and contributions have been pivotal in supporting the institute's mission of advancing community health outcomes through evidence-driven solutions.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Rahiya has also contributed to the body of knowledge in her field through publications such as "Challenges of Establishing a Community Advisory Board (CAB) in a Low-income, low-resource setting: Experiences from Bagamoyo, Tanzania."
