WORKSHOP: AnoSTEP shares progress at global malaria platform
The AnoSTEP AfriKa project implemented by Ifakara Health Institute joined more than 30 malaria experts and partners at the RBM Vector Control Working Group (VCWG) Workshop, held from March 3–5, 2026 at the Mövenpick Hotel & Residences in Nairobi, Kenya.
The annual workshop brought together scientists, program implementers, and policy experts working in malaria vector control to exchange knowledge, share research findings, and discuss evidence-based strategies that can strengthen malaria prevention efforts across Africa and beyond.
Participating in the workshop were Eric Ochomo, Co–Principal Investigator of the AnoSTEP project and researcher with Kenya Medical Research Institute / Research World, who presented on the project’s objectives and progress. Also attending were Samson Kiware, Principal Investigator from the Ifakara Health Institute, and Sangoro Onyango, who joined other malaria vector control specialists in discussions during the three-day workshop.
About the RBM VCWG
The RBM VCWG workshop serves as a key platform for the global malaria vector control community to share the latest research, operational best practices, and innovations relevant to current and future malaria control efforts. In addition to project presentations, the meeting featured plenary sessions, panel discussions, and workstream meetings focused on translating scientific evidence into policy and practice.
These discussions are particularly important as countries and partners continue to strengthen malaria control strategies through evidence-based solutions, knowledge and policy translation, and community empowerment for health.
