MEETING: Partners convene to review progress of malaria project
On 6 March 2026, the Ifakara Health Institute convened the 3rd Joint-Project Implementation Committee (J-PIC) Meeting for the Molecular Surveillance of Malaria in Tanzania Phase 2 (MSMT2) project in Dar es Salaam.
The J-PIC serves as a critical oversight body for the MSMT2 project, guiding its overall execution and ensuring that all activities are effectively coordinated through the Project Implementation Team (PIT). With representation from institutions including Ifakara, Prime Minister’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Ministry of Health Tanzania / National Malaria Control Programme, World Health Organization (WHO), National Institute for Medical Research, and National Public Health Laboratory, the meeting reflected a strong multi-institutional commitment to the project’s success.
The session focused on reviewing progress made since the previous J-PIC meeting held on 5 August 2025. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on key milestones, implementation challenges, and opportunities to further strengthen the project’s impact. Emphasis was placed on ensuring that all activities remain aligned with the approved protocol, adhere to ethical standards, and comply with the provisions of the Grant Agreement.
Through collaborative dialogue, members reaffirmed the importance of coordinated action and continuous monitoring to achieve the project’s objectives. The meeting also provided a platform to align priorities moving forward, ensuring that the MSMT2 project continues to deliver high-quality, evidence-driven outcomes that support national malaria control efforts.
