MEETING: Informing Tanzania’s key milestones in early childhood development
On 16–17 March 2026, the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups (MoCDGWSGs) held a two-day meeting in Morogoro, focusing on shaping the future of Early Childhood Development (ECD) in Tanzania.
As a member of the National ECD Secretariat and Research Sub-committee Farida Katunzi from the Ifakara Health Institute had the opportunity to present findings aimed at informing the two biggest milestones in the country’s ECD landscape: the upcoming Endline Evaluation of the ECD program and the development of the National Multisectoral ECD Program, both set to take place later this year.
Farida’s presentation focused on strategies to improve ECD within the context of policy, governance, multisectoral coordination, and financing. These insights are intended to guide evidence-based decisions and strengthen collaboration across sectors to ensure better outcomes for children nationwide.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders to review research, share experiences, and set a strong foundation for these pivotal initiatives that will shape Tanzania’s ECD programs for years to come.
