Ifakara Health Institute wishes Zanzibaris and all Tanzanians a joyful and meaningful Karume Day.

Observed annually on 7 April, Karume Day honors the life and legacy of Abeid Amani Karume, the first President of Zanzibar – which is part of the United Republic of Tanzania. Karume’s leadership during the 1964 Zanzibar Revolution and his contributions to education, healthcare, and agriculture left a lasting impact on the island and the nation.

As we reflect on his achievements, this day also celebrates Zanzibar’s rich cultural heritage and the spirit of unity and progress that continues to inspire generations.

We extend our best wishes to everyone marking this important day.
