Event poster

As part of World Malaria Day 2026 events, the Ifakara Health Institute is excited to join the global malaria community in the upcoming webinar “Local Leadership, Global Partnerships: Together Against Malaria.”

The session will bring together leading experts and voices from across the malaria field to explore how strong local leadership, strategic global partnerships, and cross-sector collaboration can accelerate progress toward ending malaria.

The webinar is organised by the Outreach Network for Gene Drive Research in collaboration with Malaria No More, Impact Santé Afrique, and KEMRI, and will take place on 23 April 2026 from 16:00–17:30 EAT.

We are especially proud that Dr. Dickson Lwetoijera from the Transmission Zero project at the Ifakara Health Institute will represent Ifakara as a panellist, sharing insights from our work in advancing malaria research, innovation, and evidence-based solutions, alongside an outstanding panel of experts:

  • Dr. Damaris Matoke-Muhia, Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI)
  • Dr. Derric Nimmo, Innovative Vector Control Consortium (IVCC)
  • Dr. Abraham Mnzava, African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA)
  • Krystal Birungi, Target Malaria, Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI)
  • Olivia Ngou, Impact Santé Afrique

The session will be moderated by Dr. Bill Steiger (Malaria No More).

At Ifakara, we remain committed to the belief that ending malaria requires strong local expertise, scientific excellence, and meaningful partnerships. We look forward to contributing to this important conversation and continuing to work together toward a malaria-free future.
