We are proud to share that since January 2026, the Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) laboratories in both Ifakara and Bagamoyo have officially been awarded a License to Operate as Human DNA Designated Laboratories by the Government Chemist Laboratory Authority (GCLA).

This remarkable achievement places us among the few nominated laboratories in Tanzania selected to hold this prestigious designation, marking a significant milestone in our capability to contribute to cutting-edge Human DNA research and analysis.

This designation is a major recognition of our lab's technical expertise, infrastructure, and commitment to complying with the strict standards required for DNA analysis. With this designation, the laboratories are now authorized to support a range of critical applications, including:

• Genetic research, advancing studies in population genetics, hereditary diseases, and personalized medicine
• Paternity testing, providing legally recognized DNA testing services
