VISIT: Ifakara welcomes delegation from Philipps University of Marburg
On 9 July 2026, the Ifakara Health Institute hosted a delegation from Philipps University of Marburg, Germany, led by Prof. Harald Renz, Director of the Institute of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiochemistry, Molecular Diagnostics, to explore potential areas for research collaboration.
The delegation also included Dr Cihan Beri, Research Scientist, and Dr George Msengi, Coordinator of the National NCDs Hub.
The Ifakara delegation was led by Dr Ally Olotu, Director of Science, who presented an overview of the Institute's research portfolio, highlighting Ifakara's contributions to improving health through scientific research, innovation, and capacity strengthening.
He was joined by Dr Zawadi Mageni Mboma, Business Development and Partnerships Specialist, Dr Yahaya Simba, Research Scientist, and Dr Daniel Msellemu, Research Coordinator. The teams discussed potential areas of collaboration, including joint research initiatives, scientific exchange, capacity strengthening, and opportunities to enhance institutional partnerships.
The visit marked an important step toward fostering collaboration between the two institutions, with IHI looking forward to building a strong partnership with Philipps University of Marburg to advance impactful research and improve health outcomes in Tanzania and beyond.
