Following the announcement, Dr. Olotu expressed his gratitude for the confidence placed in him by IHI’s management and staff, saying he accepts the responsibility with humility and a deep appreciation of the important role ahead.

He paid tribute to the leadership of Dr. Honorati Masanja, who has guided IHI for the past 10 years, acknowledging the Institute’s growth, strengthened capabilities, and significant contributions to health and science under his leadership. Dr. Olotu noted that he looks forward to building on the strong foundation established and continuing to advance IHI’s mission.

Recognising the collective effort behind IHI’s achievements, Dr. Olotu commended staff across all areas of the Institute—from field teams and drivers to nurses, doctors, researchers, and support teams—for their dedication and commitment. He expressed confidence that a culture of collaboration, respect, and shared purpose will continue to drive IHI’s work forward.

Dr. Olotu will officially assume office as Chief Executive Director on 1 September 2026. Until then, he will continue his current responsibilities while supporting a smooth transition and handover process.
