Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is participating in the 2026 National Farmers' Day (Nane Nane) Exhibition at the Julius Nyerere Exhibition Grounds in Morogoro, where it is showcasing innovative health technologies, research achievements and community health services from 1–8 August.

Invited by the Ifakara Town Council, IHI joins this year's exhibition to engage directly with communities, farmers, policymakers and development partners while demonstrating how research and innovation contribute to improving health and well-being in Tanzania. 

Bringing research and innovation closer to communities

During the week-long exhibition, visitors to the IHI pavilion can explore a range of research innovations and technologies developed by the Institute. These include mosquito surveillance and control tools, medical and laboratory technologies, digital farming software and 3D dental printing technology. 

Researchers and innovators are also conducting live demonstrations, giving visitors a first-hand opportunity to learn how science and innovation are helping address health and development challenges in Tanzania.

Free health services for exhibition visitors

As part of its commitment to improving community health, IHI is offering free health screening services throughout the exhibition. These include malaria and HIV testing, blood pressure measurement, electrocardiogram (ECG) services, and heart and lung health assessments.

Health experts are also providing education on malaria prevention, hypertension and stroke prevention, nutrition, personal hygiene and healthy living, empowering visitors with practical knowledge to protect their health.

Showcasing training and career opportunities

The exhibition also highlights IHI's commitment to building the next generation of health professionals. Staff from the Institute's Bagamoyo Training Centre are providing information on postgraduate programmes, short courses and professional development opportunities while guiding prospective students on admissions, scholarships and career pathways in health research and public health.

A multidisciplinary team representing IHI

A multidisciplinary team of 15 staff members from across the Institute is participating in this year's exhibition, representing the Chronic Disease Clinic of Ifakara (CDCI), Heart and Lung programme, Environmental Health and Ecological Sciences (EHES), Ifakara Innovation Hub, Training Centre, and Laboratory Unit. Together, they are showcasing IHI's diverse expertise in research, healthcare, innovation and capacity building.

Sharing science and engaging communities

Throughout the exhibition, the IHI team will engage with community members and visiting leaders, sharing stories that highlight the impact of IHI's work and the value of connecting research with the communities it serves.
