Ifakara Health Institute Board members and staff representing different units, departments and research groups meet for five days to draw the institutional strategic plan that will guide operations for the next five years (2023-2028).

In attendence, were representatives of the Ifakara's Board of Trustees (BOT), standing committees of the BOT, heads of department & units, and other staff drawn among scientists, implementation programs and operation teams.

The new strategy development workshop is held in Dar es Salaam from April 27 – May 2, 2023. With the current strategic planning block coming to an end at the end of June, Ifakara is set to have a new strategy in place by July 1, 2023.

The ending strategy, which also last five years (2018-2023), focused on five strategic imperatives with strengthening engagement with key stakeholders placed at the very center of it. This imperative and four others were designed to unlock the potential of the Institute and enhance its impact on health and wellbeing of the people in Tanzania and the region.

The five strategic imperatives are: strengthening stakeholder engagement; unlocking financial resources to drive own research agenda; cultivating a world class science-enabling environment; leveraging research platforms to maximize scientific discovery; and supporting translation of knowledge to deepen impact.
