Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) hosted a media conference today to inform stakeholders on the latest developments in tuberculosis (TB) research at the Institute and globally, focusing on how IHI contributed to the formulation of new WHO Guidelines on TB Diagnostics which are currently in use effective July 2020.

A total of 13 media representatives from 9 media groups based in Tanzania attended. The outlets are: Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC), Independent Television (ITV) and Radio One, Azam TV, Clouds TV and Radio, EFM and ETV, EATV and EA Radio, Daily News, The Guardian, and Mwananchi.   

Ifakara has been featured in the latest World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines on tuberculosis (TB) diagnostics after its work on a novel technology for testing TB contributed to new consolidated guidelines on tuberculosis module 3 that was published by the WHO recently.
