On the World Mosquito Day, August 20, 2024, Dr. Yeromin Mlacha of Ifakara Health Institute appeared on BBC News Swahili to discuss the growing challenge of insecticide resistance among mosquito populations, which poses a significant threat to controlling mosquito-borne diseases like malaria. He outlined the ongoing efforts by Ifakara Health Institute and its partners to develop new strategies to manage this resistance.

Dr. Mlacha also emphasized the importance of sharing research findings with local communities. By educating the public on practical ways to protect themselves, such as using insecticide-treated bed nets and eliminating mosquito breeding sites, Ifakara Health Institute aims to empower individuals to take action against mosquitoes.
