"MTAFITI" - the monthly news and events round-up of Ifakara Health Institute - August 2024 edition is out. The main theme of the current edition is on simple innovations that bring solutions to the complex malaria problem.

The editor's choice top story reports on a promising tool called Mosquito Electrocuting Eave Tubes (MEETs) which has demonstrated the potential to significantly reduce malaria-carrying mosquitoes in homes by targeting them at one of their main entry points – the eaves.
And on the readers' top story - this one was most read in both the Ifakara website and social media platforms - focuses on how natural predators can help reduce the population of Anopheles funestus mosquitoes, the primary carriers of the malaria parasite.
Additionally, Ifakara and the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), with support from the European INOVEC project hosted the inaugural joint international conference on “Advances in Surveillance and Control Methods for Aedes-Borne Diseases and Urban Vectors” at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
