TALK: Ifakara scientist shares knowledge translation experience at Glasgow
On the 7th of November 2024, in an inspiring session at the University of Glasgow, Dr. Sally Mtenga of Ifakara Health Institute shared her expertise on the topic "Sharing experience of policy translation in Tanzania", emphasizing the importance of bridging the gap between scientific evidence and real-world implementation.
Speaking to a distinguished audience at the School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Mtenga highlighted the pressing need for researchers to align their work with national policy priorities and local needs to maximize the impact on public health.
“Failure to translate research evidence into practice and policy remains a major public health concern,” Dr. Mtenga stated. “Gaps between evidence-practice, and policy hinder the optimal use of research to address healthcare challenges.
