APPOINTMENT: Ifakara scientist now adjunct professor at the University of Basel
Ifakara Health Institute scientist, Dr. Sarah Moore, has been promoted to the position of Adjunct Professor of the University of Basel, Switzerland. Before this, she served as an Associate Professor at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (SwissTPH) - a world-leading institution in global health affiliated with the University of Basel.
Dr. Moore leads the Vector Control Product Testing Unit (VCPTU) at the Ifakara Health Institute, where she ensures new mosquito control tools are rigorously tested. She is also affiliated with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute’s Vector Biology Unit.
The VCPTU is committed to advancing malaria control through excellence in service delivery, innovation in product testing methods, and the training of MSc and PhD students. A diverse range of vector control tools is crucial for effective malaria control. It allows programs to choose solutions best suited to their specific settings while fostering competition in the market, ultimately driving down product costs.
