TRAINING: Strengthening Haydom hospital’s research capacity

From November 18 to 22, 2024, Ifakara Health Institute senior scientist Kamaka Kassim joined the National Health Research Ethics Committee (NatHREC) and the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA) in conducting a capacity-building training at the Haydom Lutheran Hospital in Manyara Region, Tanzania. 

This training aimed to strengthen the hospital's research team capacity to conduct clinical trials.

NatHREC, as part of its core mandate, seeks to uphold ethical rigor in Tanzania's health research to protect the rights and well-being of research participants. This collaborative effort involved experts from NatHREC, Ifakara, and the TMDA, showcasing a unified commitment to advancing clinical trial capacity across the country.

By equipping Haydom Lutheran Hospital with enhanced research capabilities, Ifakara and its partners contribute to fortifying Tanzania's research infrastructure, promoting scientific integrity, and fostering innovation in health research and clinical trials.
