TRAINING: Ifakara empowers facilitators of its master’s program
In an effort to improve excellence in the teaching of its master’s program, from December 2-6, 2024, Ifakara Health Institute's Capacity Building and Training Department conducts a transformative Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program in Tanga, Tanzania.
The five-day intensive training is aimed to refine teaching and facilitation skills, equipping facilitators of the Master of Science in Public Health Research (MScPHR) with modern methods to deliver impactful and learner-centered training.
Facilitated by Professor Senga Pemba of St. Francis University College of Health and Allied Sciences, the program covers essential topics such as effective teaching methodologies, curriculum comprehension, student learning approaches, and microteaching techniques.
Preparing students for real-world challenges
Special attention is given to designing modern examinations that align with learning objectives, fostering critical thinking, and preparing students for real-world challenges.
Professor Pemba emphasized the importance of structured assessments that evaluate knowledge and enhance analytical skills. Through practical sessions, participants gained hands-on experience in innovative teaching strategies, ensuring the application of theoretical knowledge to actual learning environments.
This CPD initiative underscores Ifakara’s dedication to continuous professional growth and excellence in health education.
By empowering staff with advanced teaching competencies, the Institute is reinforcing its commitment to nurturing the next generation of skilled health professionals and researchers who can tackle global health challenges effectively.
