The Ifakara Health Institute extends heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Ntuli Kapologwe – a member of the Ifakara Health Institute Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) - on his new role as the Director General of the East, Central, and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC).

Dr. Kapologwe – until his appointment the Director of Preventive Services in the Ministry of Health, Tanzania – has long been a valued contributor to the health community, and we are thrilled to see him assume this important leadership role.

As an SAC member at ifakara, he provides strategic leadership in view of Ifakara scientific strategies. The committee advises the Ifakara Board on strategic scientific programs, areas of investments, and core focus areas.

Dr. Kapologwe’s appointment follows a highly competitive election process, where he triumphed over six other candidates. His wealth of experience in public health, particularly in his former role as Tanzania’s Director of Preventive Services at the Ministry of Health, has been a driving force behind his success. He now takes on the mantle of leadership for ECSA-HC, succeeding Prof. Yoswa Dambisya of Uganda, who completed two successful terms in the position.

At Ifakara, we are proud of Dr. Kapologwe’s achievements and remain committed to supporting his efforts as he leads ECSA-HC into a new era of health collaboration and progress. His appointment marks a significant moment in the health sector of East, Central, and Southern Africa, and we look forward to seeing the continued impact of his work at the helm of ECSA-HC.
