Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a sacred period observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting, prayer, reflection, and community service. It is also the month in which the Quran is believed to have been revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

As one of the Five Pillars of Islam, the observance of Ramadan lasts for twenty-nine or thirty days, depending on the sighting of the crescent (new moon).
