"MTAFITI" - the monthly news and events round-up of Ifakara Health Institute - March 2025 edition is out. This issue highlights gender-based violence (GBV), with 1 in 3 women affected, often by intimate partner violence (IPV), which accounts for 38% of femicides but remains underreported. Tackling its root causes is key to creating a safer, more equal world for women and girls.

The editor’s top story highlights two new studies focusing on the persistent challenge of IPV in low- and middle-income countries and the opportunities to address it
And on the readers' top story - the most-read piece on both the Ifakara website and social media platforms—researchers, highlights a new lab method that can quickly detect worm DNA in stool samples, making it easier to diagnose and treat infections and helping more people stay healthy.
The month closed with an incredible visit on March 27, 2025, when Ifakara Health Institute hosted two high-profile delegations on the same day at its Bagamoyo branch—one from the House of Representatives in Zanzibar and another from Novartis, Switzerland.
