TRAINING: Introduction to “Machine Learning” with Dr. Isaac Lyatuu

On Friday, June 13, 2025, Isaac Lyatuu — a public health researcher with expertise in data science and health impact assessment at Ifakara — in collaboration with the Data Science & Mathematical Modelling Unit, led a hands-on introduction to machine learning using Python.
The three-hour session was designed to be accessible to participants of all skill levels, from beginners to those looking to deepen their expertise. The training provided a solid foundation in core machine learning principles and terminology, offering participants a clear roadmap for setting up a machine learning project.
Key topics included essential data preparation techniques and practical guidance on applying machine learning in real-world contexts. The session concluded with a locally relevant case study, allowing attendees to explore how machine learning can be applied to address challenges in health and development.
Ifakara remains committed to building local capacity and fostering knowledge sharing, and looks forward to future opportunities to engage and empower learners.
