AWARD: Ifakara scientist wins travel grant to present at the EDCTP forum in Kigali, Rwanda

Ifakara Health Institute’s Sheikha Salum Mohamed has been selected among 100 early- and mid-career investigators to receive a travel award to present at the 12th EDCTP Forum in Kigali, Rwanda.
Representing the MESH–Community Engagement Network under The Global Health Network, Sheikha showcased an exciting new initiative: an interactive online course on Community Engagement and Involvement in Global Health Research. This open-access course has already made a global impact—3,500 certificates awarded in its first year—highlighting the growing demand for practical guidance in community engagement.
Out of 718 abstract proposals submitted, 322 were selected by the EDCTP Programme Committee for presentation and only 100 were awarded.
As a Mesh Coordinator for Africa, based at Ifakara, Sheikha plays a key role in connecting researchers, communities, and stakeholders to ensure meaningful, inclusive engagement in global health research.
