
COLLABORATION: Ifakara, COSTECH discuss partnership for local research and innovation

On July 24, 2025, Dr. Zawadi Mageni Mboma, Business Development and Partnerships Specialist, Ms. Sheikha Salum, a Community and Stakeholder Engagement Liason, and Dr. Samson Kiware, Senior Research Scientist from Ifakara Health Institute, met with colleagues from the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) to explore collaboration opportunities focused on advancing research, development, and innovation in Tanzania.
Chaired by Dr. Amos Nungu, Director General of COSTECH, the meeting provided a valuable platform to align and strengthen collaborative efforts in advancing Tanzania’s scientific and technological development. Both Ifakara and COSTECH are key national institutions committed to driving progress in science, technology, and innovation.
About COSTECH
The Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) was established with the responsibility of coordinating and promoting research and technology development activities in the country.
To fulfill this mandate, COSTECH is actively mobilizing funds to support the development of STI for socio-economic transformation. Through the National Fund for Science and Technology (NFAST), COSTECH provides financial support to researchers and innovators conducting scientific and technological research in the nationally prioritised areas.
This meeting builds on the longstanding relationship between the two institutes and marks an important step toward strengthening partnerships that will accelerate scientific advancement and technological innovation for sustainable development in Tanzania.
