WEBINAR: Ifakara, partners discuss community engagement in health systems research

On July 29, 2025, the Ifakara Health Institute joined global health researchers for a dynamic webinar titled Enhancing Health Systems Research Through Community and Stakeholder Engagement. The event brought together experts from Tanzania, Rwanda, and Argentina to share practical experiences and strategies for building stronger, more responsive health systems through meaningful engagement.
Representing Tanzania, Dr. Dunstan Bishanga and Sheikha Mohamed, MESH Africa Regional Coordinator, shared insights from Ifakara Health Institute’s work. They were joined by fellow panelists Luis Felipe Arias Soto (Argentina), Jean Pierre Musabyimana (Rwanda), and Javier Roberti (Argentina), who each reflected on challenges, solutions, and lessons learned in their respective contexts.
Hosted on the MESH platform, a global hub for community engagement in health research, the session emphasized that engaging communities and stakeholders is not just good practice, but a foundational element for ethical, impactful research that drives real health system improvements.
