On August 28, 2025, a new chapter of achievement unfolded as students of the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) master’s program in Public Health Research celebrated their graduation. The program, offered in collaboration with the Ifakara Health Institute, is designed to nurture the next generation of public health leaders equipped to transform communities through research and innovation.

The graduation ceremony, held at the NM-AIST Tengeru Campus in Arusha, marked yet another significant milestone for this joint program. Presiding over the event, the Chancellor of NM-AIST, Omari Issa, conferred degrees upon the graduates, recognizing not only their academic excellence but also their resilience and dedication throughout this rigorous two-year journey.

This year, ten graduates took to the stage. They are: Amri Abas, Ampuriire Patience, Fahad Mwakalebela, Faith Mandara, Hassan Matimbwa, Joram Mduda, Justina Maganga, Muwonge Mukisa, Sperancia Coelestine, and Angelina Kihanga.

The collaboration has proven instrumental in shaping these outcomes. Through access to state-of-the-art research facilities, mentorship from leading experts, and extensive practical exposure, graduates are well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to health systems strengthening and evidence-based interventions.

This ongoing partnership between NM-AIST and the Ifakara Health Institute underscores the transformative power of collaboration in higher education and public health. By combining academic excellence with real-world research, NM-AIST and Ifakara continue to strengthen capacity in Tanzania and beyond—ensuring that each graduating cohort adds to the growing legacy of leaders ready to make a difference.
