The Ifakara Health Institute is proud to share that Dr. Peter Binyaruka, one of our leading scientists, has been nominated for the position of Director for Africa on the International Health Economics Association (IHEA) Board.

Dr. Binyaruka has been an active member of the global health economics community for nearly a decade, participating in IHEA Congresses in Milan, Boston, Basel, Cape Town, and Bali. He has contributed through organizing, chairing, and presenting in numerous sessions and currently serves as a co-convenor of the Health Financing for UHC Special Interest Group representing the African region.

His nomination recognizes both his personal contributions and the growing impact of African health economists on the global stage. If elected, Dr. Binyaruka intends to strengthen Africa’s voice within IHEA, foster collaboration and knowledge exchange across the continent, and promote the use of health economics to address pressing health system challenges.

IHEA voting is open exclusively to IHEA members. This nomination is a proud moment for the Ifakara Health Institute and Tanzania’s health economics community, highlighting the continued leadership and expertise emerging from the region.
