TRAINING: 8th colposcopy course set to kick off in Ifakara in January

The Ifakara Health Institute, in partnership with St. Francis Regional Referral Hospital and the University Hospital Basel (Switzerland), is preparing to host the 8th Colposcopy Course. The intensive, week-long training is scheduled for January 26 to February 1, 2026 at the St. Francis Regional Referral Hospital in Ifakara, Morogoro region.

Accredited training to build national capacity

The course, accredited by the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT), is designed to strengthen national capacity in cervical cancer prevention and early detection. A total of 30 healthcare providers from across Tanzania will be selected to take part in the training.

The participants will gain practical field experience by engaging in HPV screening and outreach activities, giving them hands-on experience working directly with communities.

Led by experts from Tanzania and Switzerland

The course will be facilitated by leading experts and specialists in cervical cancer from Tanzania and Switzerland and chaired by Dr. Sr. Nathalia Thobias Makunja, Consultant Gynecologist and Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at St. Francis Regional Referral Hospital.

How to apply

Healthcare providers interested in joining are encouraged to submit their applications by January 19, 2026. The course fee is 200,000 TZS, covering training materials, tea, and lunch throughout the program.
