The Ifakara Health Institute has inked a renewed partnership agreement with the Embassy of Switzerland, marking a significant milestone in the Institute’s long-standing collaboration with the Swiss Government.

The agreement was formally signed in Dar es Salaam on Friday, December 5, 2025 by H.E. Nicole Providoli, the Swiss Ambassador to Tanzania and Ifakara Health Institute Chief Executive Director, Dr. Honorati Masanja, who was accompanied by the Institute’s Director of Science, Dr. Ally Olotu.

The signing reaffirms the Institute’s commitment to strong international partnerships that advance scientific excellence and public health impact. The new agreement spans four fiscal years (2026–2029) and reflects a strong endorsement of Ifakara’s strategic vision and leadership.

The contribution will support priority areas outlined in Ifakara’s Strategic Plan 2023–2028, including strengthening institutional visibility, enhancing fundraising and revenue diversification, and expanding career development opportunities for early-stage researchers.

A major focus of the partnership will be enabling innovative pilot projects at the intersection of climate and health—an area of growing importance for Tanzania and global health security. The funding will also enhance the institute’s capacity to translate its research into actionable policies, interventions, and products that benefit communities across the country.

This renewed commitment aligns with the Swiss Cooperation Programme for Tanzania 2026–2029, which emphasizes resilience, climate adaptation, and equitable access to essential services.

The partnership underscores Ifakara’s dedication to evidence-driven research and impactful collaborations that strengthen health systems and improve wellbeing for all Tanzanians.
