On December 15, 2025, the Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) brought together researchers and staff for an engaging webinar on Effective Data Management, highlighting how well-managed data plays a vital role in producing reliable, high-impact research.

A member from the Ifakara Data team, Selemani Mbaga, who was supported by Irabi Kassim, also from the same time, hosted the one-hour webinar that happened virtually. 

The session showcased how strong data management practices improve data quality, support collaboration, and ensure that research findings are accurate, usable, and meaningful. Participants were also introduced to the work of IHI’s Data Management Unit, which supports research teams with practical tools, systems, and guidance to help them manage data more efficiently throughout the research lifecycle.

The webinar focused on strengthening understanding of good data management practices, sharing practical approaches for organizing and integrating research data, and exploring ways to enhance collaboration, data quality, and reproducibility.

Through interactive discussions and real-world examples, the session reinforced a clear message: smarter data management leads to stronger, more impactful research.
