The PhD student will oversee epidemiological studies and clinical trials to understand Rift Valley fever virus in humans, livestock, and mosquitoes.

Position Summary

Ifakara Health Institute seeks a PhD student who will contribute to cutting-edge research in infectious diseases, specifically Rift Valley Fever. This fully funded studentship commencing in February 2024, offers a chance to make a meaningful global impact through collaboration with leading experts. 

The PhD student will be tasked with supporting, managing, and overseeing epidemiological and clinical trial studies among humans, livestock, and mosquito vectors around the Bagamoyo district where clinical trials will be conducted.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must possess a Master's in Public Health, Epidemiology, Immunology, or Microbiology, coupled with a background in medicine (MD). A minimum of 3 years of clinical research experience and a solid understanding of human vaccine clinical trials are crucial.
