Position Summary

Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a qualified Research Officer to join the EDRP (Epidemic Detection & Response Project) which is mandated to develop and strengthen the required capacity for local scientists as well as to work on machine learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), software programming, and in data management & analysis related projects.

The candidate will perform various Data Science tasks related to health, work on data management and analysis for mosquito studies and provide support to undertake different reviews related to infectious disease modeling projects. Additionally, the candidate will engage in multiple projects to develop expertise in computer programming, machine learning, and AI.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must hold a BA or BSc in computer science, computer engineering, engineering, mathematics, health informatics, Information Technology and Systems or any other related discipline. Should be proficient in one or more programming languages and data analysis packages. Proficiency in statistical software, particularly R, is advantageous.
